Feyrouz AbdulRahman Bio-

Feyrouz AbdulRahman, an Eritrean-Canadian Independent documentary filmmaker who started her journey in sharing the relevant but unheard stories of diverse communities on a show entitled “Echo” for Sun TV in 2005. After contributing as a segment producer on this show which highlighted the outliers and successful members of the community, her direction was solidified as someone who would continue to share the seldom heard stories from these communities. From there, she continued on this path with the National Film Board of Canada as an Associate Producer trainee in 2007. With her first documentary, "Mis Boon: Daughters of the Horn," released in 2008, Feyrouz captures the Eritrean-Canadian experience, exploring the realities within the diaspora. Her initial motivation—to introduce Eritrea to a less familiar audience—and the film's role in documenting and protecting the community's stories from being overlooked - continues to nourish her body of work. With her upcoming documentary on the horizon, Feyrouz continues to delve into the unique perspectives within the Eritrean-Canadian history. Feyrouz established Merrida Media in 2009, driven by her passion to create better understanding with culturally diverse content. With contributions to notable documentaries like “Lone Twin” (TVO), “The Shadow of Gold" (TVO) and "Pink Ribbons Inc.”(NFB) she showcases a commitment to sharing untold stories. Beyond her documentaries, Feyrouz has lent her expertise to television productions such as "Champions vs Legends”(CBC) and "Murdoch Mysteries”(CBC), showcasing versatility in her skills.
